Sarah Piampiano (born July 24, 1980 in Cumberland ) is an American triathlete and Ironman winner (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019). She is runner-up in the best list of American triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Sarah Piampiano started her first triathlon in 2009.

Triathlon professional since 2011

In November 2011, Piampiano started as a professional athlete for the first time at Ironman Mexico .

In April 2012 she won the Ironman 70.3 New Orleans . At the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, Piampiano finished 23rd as the fastest American amateur.

Ironman 2015 winner

In Klagenfurt she landed in third place in June 2015 and set a new personal best on the Ironman distance (9:03:10 h for 3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running). In October 2015 she finished seventh at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii and in December she won her first Ironman victory in Busselton. Sarah Piampiano is trained by Matt Dixon.

In April 2017 she was fourth in the first edition of Ironman 70.3 Liuzhou and in June she was second in Ironman Cairns . In December she won the first edition of the Ironman Mar del Plata in Argentina .

Second fastest US woman on the 2019 Ironman distance

In May 2019, the then 38-year-old won the Ironman Brazil in a personal best after 8:40:49 hours and thus set the second fastest time of a US athlete on the Ironman distance. In July she won her fifth Ironman 70.3 race with the Ironman 70.3 Ecuador .

Sarah Piampiano lives in San Francisco .
