Per van Vlerken (* March 20, 1985 in Leipzig as Per Bittner ) is a German duathlete and triathlete . He is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Per Bittner has been running triathlons since 1991, he started his first triathlon at the age of seven and is now coached by Guido Vroemen . He mainly starts on the medium and long distance and this mostly as part of the Challenge series . His greatest success so far was winning the middle distance at the Half-Challenge Barcelona in 2012.

In July 2013, Bittner made it to the Ironman podium for the first time with his third place in Zurich and he was thus able to qualify for a starting place at the Ironman World Championships, the Ironman Hawaii , which will take place in October 2013 , where he finished 32nd.

Until 2014 he started as a professional athlete for the TBB team . In the 2015 season he does not belong to any team.

3rd place German championship triathlon long distance

In July 2015, after 8:04:29 h, he finished fourth at the Challenge Roth with a personal best on the long distance . He has been competing for the IBH Pro Triathlon Team from Leipzig since the 2016 season .

Per Bittner married the Dutch triathlete Yvonne van Vlerken (* 1978) in July 2018 and has since started as Per van Vlerken . In October 2019, the 34-year-old finished sixth at Ironman Malaysia .
