Ina Christine Wroldsen (born May 28, 1984 in Sandefjord ) is a Norwegian songwriter and singer .

biography

At the age of 17 Ina Wroldsen won the Fame Factory talent competition on the private broadcaster TV3 . After that, she tried to start her own career and also released a few songs, but without making the breakthrough. Although she signed with a label in 2006, it went bankrupt just a year later. One of her songs, If You Could Only See Me , was recorded by Maria Arredondo in 2007. She then limited herself to songwriting, went to London and enjoyed great success as a songwriter for Saturdays : She was involved in eight songs on her debut album Chasing Lights , two of which, Up and If This Love , top ten in the UK charts achieved. In the same year she wrote the international hit Hush Hush by the Pussycat Dolls .

In the following years he worked for Leona Lewis , Pixie Lott , Alexandra Burke , Shontelle , Melanie C , Britney Spears and others. In some of them she was also involved as a background singer. She had other top ten hits with Saturdays and her first number one hit in Great Britain with the song Twilight for Cover Drive in 2012 . The following year, Impossible , which had already made Shontelle a top ten hit in 2010, became the second leader in the version of X-Factor winner James Arthur .

In 2013 she got involved in her home country for the Eurovision Song Contest . The song Bombo , written for the up-and-coming singer Adelén , was only just second in the preliminary round, but reached number one in Norway. She also started a joint project with producer Arnthor Birgisson under the name Ask Embla , in which she herself is again a singer.

Wroldsen was a songwriter and singer on Calvin Harris ' dance pop song How Deep Is Your Love , which was released in 2015. The single was able to place itself in the charts internationally, including number 2 in Great Britain and number 4 in Germany. In November 2017, Alan Walker released a remix of their single Strongest , which was released on October 27, 2017. On December 1, 2017, the song Breathe was released in cooperation with Jax Jones , where she again acted as a singer.

In November 2018 she was awarded the P3 prize as one of Norway's most successful musicians at the P3 Gull award ceremony of the Norwegian radio station NRK P3 . In March 2019, Wroldsen won the Spellemann Prize 2018 in the Best Songwriter category for the album Hex .
