Mareen Hufe (born April 26, 1978 in Wesel ) is a German triathlete . She is listed in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance as well as in the Ironman Hawaii age group records.

Career

Mareen Hufe studied until 2006 at the University of Portsmouth on the south coast of England and the Münster University of Applied Sciences . Since then she has been working in sales controlling at Altana and lives in Wesel .

First long-distance triathlon in 2007

At Challenge Roth , she started the long-distance triathlon for the first time in June 2007 (3.86 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and in July 2010 she again became German runner-up on the long distance in Roth. In October 2011 she won her age group (W30) at the Ironman World Championships .

Triathlon professional since 2012

In 2012 she reduced her employment relationship with her employer Altana and has since started as a professional. When she first started as a professional athlete, she was the best German twelfth at Ironman Melbourne in March 2013 .

When Ironman Copenhagen it was in 2014 third in August, just missed qualifying for a starting place at Ironman Hawaii. In 2014 she finished second at the Ironman Western Australia and set a new personal best in the long distance. In 2015 she was able to qualify for the fifth time for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii in October and she finished 24th as the third-best German. In December she finished second at Ironman Western Australia for the third time in a row.

In May 2016 she finished second at the Ironman Brasil . At the Ironman Western Australia in December, she finished second for the fourth time in a row and achieved a new personal Ironman best time of 8:57:35 hours. During this time, she also entered ninth place in the list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Eleventh place Ironman Hawaii 2017

In September 2017, she won the Cologne 226 Half over the middle distance in Cologne. In October, the 39-year-old achieved her best result to date with eleventh place at her sixth start in the Ironman Hawaii . In November 2017 she was able to repeat her success from the previous year on the island of Langkawi and again came second at the Ironman Malaysia .

In July 2018 she won Ironman Austria and with it her first Ironman race. At the Ironman Hawaii in October, she finished as the second best German in 13th place. In November she won her second Ironman race with the Ironman Malaysia and qualified again for the Ironman World Championships 2019. In April 2019, the then 40-year-old was tenth at the Ironman South Africa . In August 2020 she won the KnappenMan Triathlon in the Lausitzer Seenland over the middle distance.

Mareen Hufe is trained by Ute Mückel and starts for the Triminators TV Voerde association .
