Indeland (proper spelling: indeland) is an intermunicipal regional development project in the city triangle of Düren / Eschweiler / Jülich in North Rhine-Westphalia . The cities of Eschweiler, Jülich and Linnich , the communities of Aldenhoven , Inden , Langerwehe and Niederzier and the district of Düren are involved .

The project was initiated in the late 1990s by the Aachen Foundation Kathy Beys , when it first dealt with the problem of the Inden open-cast lignite mine. As part of the EuRegionale 2008 , the first approaches for a master plan for the time after the end of mining were formulated. The project also aimed to enhance the landscape of the region around Blausteinsee , the Inde River and the Inden open-cast mine . The symbol of the Indeland is the so-called Indemann , which was set up near Inden- Lucherberg and which could be climbed for the first time on August 10, 2009.

On January 10, 2007 the supervisory board of the development company indeland GmbH (EwiG) met for the constituent meeting. In addition to the above-mentioned municipalities, the supervisory board includes representatives from RWE Power , Sparkasse Düren and the Aachen Foundation Kathy Beys. RWE Power is providing the development company with a total of around ten million euros over a period of 15 years.

The regional president of Cologne, Hans Peter Lindlar , gave the starting shot for the work of the development company before Christmas 2006, when he presented District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn with a permit for around 800,000 euros from funds from the urban development subsidy of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The work of the development company indeland was preceded by a consulting and planning process lasting several years, in which a large number of regional representatives (e.g. Rhineland Chamber of Agriculture, local and district farmers, churches, Cologne district government, city of Düren, etc.) were involved.

Indeland is involved in sports marketing. The table tennis team of Bundesliga club TTC Jülich has been competing under the name "TTC Indeland Jülich" since the 2007/08 season and receives around 40,000 euros a year. The volleyball Bundesliga club evivo Düren will be financially supported for three years from 2007/08 with an annual amount of around 20,000 euros. The sponsorship also relates to the volleyball academy for the promotion of young talent.
