Wolfgang Spelthahn (born March 15, 1963 in Jülich ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and district administrator of the Düren district .

job

After graduating from high school in Haus Overbach in Jülich, Spelthahn completed his military service with the Air Force in Essen and Düren-Gürzenich . He then studied law in Bonn and then worked as a business lawyer and management consultant as well as a consultant for the European Commission on economic and currency issues.

Political party

In 1982 Spelthahn joined the CDU; from 1993 to 1999 he was their district treasurer for Düren and has been the first deputy district chairman since November 1999.

Offices

Since October 1, 1999, he has been the district administrator of the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

In this function or as a representative of the Düren district, he holds various other offices (as of January 2013), including:

  • Head of the Düren District Police Department
  • Member of the Supervisory Board of RWE Power AG (from February 17, 2011 to August 2015) and (as a permanent guest) member of the RWE Central Advisory Board,
  • Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Düren

The Aachener Nachrichten wrote in April 2013:

"Spelthahn is a member of 70 supervisory boards, shareholders' meetings, association boards or similar bodies, also in the district council, in the district committee, in the youth advisory board and in the youth welfare committee and also as head of Department V of the district administration for schools, culture, sports, youth welfare, municipal integration, the district police , Press work and finally responsible for all kinds of representation tasks. [...] For more than two years, Spelthahn claims that as a member of both supervisory boards [RWE Power and the Weisweiler waste incineration plant (MVA)] he was not exposed to any conflicts of interest, although RWE Power and MVA have been negotiating a contract extension since 2010. "

In August 2012, the Aachen public prosecutor brought charges against him for breach of trust in connection with the GWS.

The trial against Wolfgang Spelthahn and Michael Müller began on April 9, 2013 before the Düren district court. A total of 44 witnesses were to be heard; further trial days were scheduled for April 12, 16, 19 and 23; on April 26, 2013 a judgment was to be pronounced. On April 19, the proceedings against Spelthahn and against Müller were discontinued in exchange for a payment of 3500 euros each.

Personal

Spelthahn has been married since 1990 and lives in the Ellen district of Niederzier .
