Adolf (Adi) Retz (born February 17, 1942 in Aachen ) is a German politician ( SPD ); he was district administrator of the Düren district and a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .
biography
After attending primary school, Retz began an apprenticeship as a mechanic , which he completed in 1959 with the journeyman's examination. He then worked at RWTH Aachen University until 1961 . He then went to KFA Jülich, today's Forschungszentrum Jülich, as a technician . After attending the technical school and the examination as a mechanical engineer in 1965, he passed the master's examination in the mechanic trade. In 1969 he became workshop manager at the Institute for Nuclear Physics in the KFA .
Political career
In 1969 Retz joined the SPD, in 1979 he became a member of the Jülich city council . On January 23, 1980 he became chairman of the local SPD association in Jülich . 1985 Retz joined the state parliament. On October 16, 1989, Retz replaced Johannes Kaptain as district administrator for the Düren district . Manfred Lucas replaced Retz in November 1994. Retz had been a member of the board of the North Rhine-Westphalia district council since 1989 , of which he was chairman from 1993 to 1994. Retz played a key role in the reactivation of the Düren district railway , which in 1993 took over two regional lines that were due to be closed from the Deutsche Bundesbahn and fundamentally modernized them and led them on the road to success. On his initiative, Jülich also became the location for the Jülich Technology Center in the Königskamp industrial park.
From May 30, 1985 to June 1, 2000 he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament . After leaving Parliament in 2000, he founded a consultancy for regional development and technology transfer and a "German-Dutch project development company".
Retz is married and has three children.
