Emmerich Stürtz

Emmerich Stürtz (born September 28, 1811 in Aachen , † February 1, 1898 in Düren ) was the Catholic District Administrator of the Düren District and a Privy Councilor.

After studying law , Stürtz entered the Prussian civil service in 1835 . On June 1, 1841, he was appointed provisional district administrator as a government assessor. He became a regular district administrator on May 25, 1844.

Honors

  • On August 11, 1885, the city council decided to appoint Stürtz as the second honorary citizen of Düren on the occasion of his 50th anniversary in the Prussian civil service.
  • On April 25, 1893, part of the then Holz-Obertor-Promenade was renamed Stürtzstrasse .
