The District Assembly of North Rhine-Westphalia (LKT NRW) is the municipal umbrella association of the districts in North Rhine-Westphalia , based in Düsseldorf.

It includes the 30 North Rhine-Westphalian districts, the Aachen city region and the regional associations of Rhineland and Westphalia-Lippe and the Ruhr Regional Association as extraordinary members . The LKT NRW represents the interests of its members in the areas of finance, labor and social affairs, economy, health, consumer protection, family, children and youth, construction and transport, environmental protection as well as safety and order. He advocates local self-government and takes a position on laws and ordinances vis-à-vis the state parliament and the state government.

Freiherr vom Stein Institute

The District Association of North Rhine-Westphalia is the sponsor of the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Institut (FSI).
