The Lower Saxony District Association (NLT) is the association of the 37 districts of Lower Saxony and the Hanover region . As a municipal umbrella organization, the association represents the interests of its members vis-à-vis the Lower Saxony state parliament and the Lower Saxony state government . Its seat is in the state capital Hanover . It was founded in 1946.

purpose

According to the statutes, the purpose is

  • to represent the common interests of the members,
  • to cultivate the idea of ​​self-government and to stand up for the preservation of the constitutional rights of its members,
  • to maintain the exchange of experiences among the districts,
  • To deal with questions of organization and economic efficiency of administration,
  • to promote the public's understanding of the tasks and facilities of the districts,
  • to advise the competent bodies in the preparation and implementation of laws, ordinances and decrees, insofar as they affect the interests of the members (Article 71, Paragraph 4 of the state constitution) and
  • to advise members on individual issues.

Association magazine

"NLT-Information" has been published since 1978. Five to six issues appear annually, which contain relevant political information from the districts of Lower Saxony and the Hanover region.
