Patrik Nilsson (born August 29, 1991 in Saltsjöbaden ) is a Swedish triathlete . He is a six-time Ironman winner (2014-2021) and is included in the best list of triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Patrik Nilsson was active in swimming in his youth and since autumn 2013 he has started as a triathlon professional.

Swedish record long distance triathlon 2015

In June 2015 he finished fifth at the World Triathlon Long Distance Championship. In August, the then 23-year-old won the Ironman Sweden and set a new Swedish long-distance record.

In August 2016, in his third Ironman victory at Ironman Copenhagen , he improved the course record to 7:49:18 hours. He was able to undercut the Swedish record again and achieved the seventh fastest time on the long distance at the time. When he started for the first time, he finished eighth in the Ironman Hawaii 2017.

Patrik Nilsson is trained by Frank Jacobsen. At Ironman Germany , he finished second in the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt am Main in July 2018 . He starts for the BMC Vifit Pro Triathlon Team . In April 2019 he won the Ironman Texas and set a new course record.

In August 2021, the 29-year-old won the Ironman European Championships .

He lives with his fiancée and their son in Vallensbæk .
