Vallensbæk Kommune is a Danish municipality in the Hovedstaden region . It extends over an area of 9.50 km² in the western suburbs of Copenhagen and Vallensbæk itself is part of the capital region Hovedstadsområdet , but not the rural parts of the municipality. However, only 535 of the 16,633 residents of the municipality live outside the closed settlement area (as of January 1, 2020).

Vallensbæk Kommune was retained in full during the administrative reform of 2007 , but works with Ishøj Kommune to the west on administrative matters . The municipality moved from København's office to the new Hovedstaden region .
