Halsnæs Kommune is a Danish municipality in the Hovedstaden region . 31,384 inhabitants live there on an area of 121.90 km² (as of January 1, 2020). The name Halsnæs comes from the Halsnæs peninsula in the western part of the municipality. The Halsnæs municipality is located on the east bank of the exit of the Isefjord and includes the western part of Denmark's largest inland lake, Arresø , and the 71 hectare island of Hesselø in the Kattegat , about 30 km north of Korshage .
The municipality was created during the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 from the merger of the formerly independent municipalities Frederiksværk and Hundested in the Frederiksborg Amt to form the new Frederiksværk-Hundested Municipality. This was renamed on January 1, 2008 in Halsnæs Kommune.

In its capacity as Matrikelsogne , i.e. as land register districts of the cadastral authority Geodatastyrelsen , such changes have not had any effect since the abolition of the Harden structure in 1970.
