Torup is a Danish town with 352 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) on Zealand . The village is located in the parish of the same name ( Torup Sogn ), which until 1970 belonged to Harde Strø Herred in what was then Frederiksborg Amt . With the dissolution of the Harden structure, the parish was included in the municipality of Frederiksværk , the municipality in turn merged with other municipalities in the newly founded municipality of Halsnæs , which belongs to the Hovedstaden region , with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

Torup is about five kilometers northwest of Frederiksværk and about seven kilometers east of Hundested .
