Ølsted ( German for about Bierort ) is a small village in the Hovedstaden region on Sjælland in Denmark
Ølsted is part of the Halsnæs municipality and has 1910 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
Ølsted is located south of Arresø and west of Roskilde Fjord . To the west of Ølsted is the holiday home area Ølsted Strandhuse , to the south-west of Ølsted Sydstrand . The town of Frederiksværk is about 8 km north of the town, Frederikssund about 10 km south. The place Skaevinge , which belongs to the Hillerød municipality , is about 7 km east of Ølsted.
history
The stone box of Viberg (Danish: Vibjerg Hellekiste or Lille Havelse Hellekiste) is located southeast of Ølsted. It is very likely that the village was founded before AD 400, as suggested by excavations at Stokrosevej in April 2006. The oldest remaining prehistoric building is the church, which was built around 1100. King Frederick IV of Denmark ordered the construction of several schools in 1721, one of which was built in Ølsted in 1727. It now serves as the office of the local church.
Ølsted has been part of Halsnæs Municipality since the 2007 municipal reform . Before that it belonged to Frederiksværk Municipality in the Frederiksborg Office .
Transport and infrastructure
Ølsted has a train station that connects it to Hillerød – Frederiksværk – Hundested Jernbane between Hillerød and Hundested .
