Lyngby-Taarbæk Kommune (other spelling: Lyngby-Tårbæk Kommune) is a Danish municipality in the Hovedstaden region .
The municipality is 38.80 km². The administrative seat is Lyngby-Taarbæk, which is itself part of the capital region Hovedstadsområdet , in contrast to the rural parts of the municipality. Only 311 of the 56,214 residents of the municipality live outside the closed settlement area (as of January 1, 2020).
In this commune are the open-air museum of the Danish National Museum , Sorgefri Castle , the residence of the kings of Denmark and Marienborg , the summer residence of the Danish Prime Ministers.
