Fredensborg Kommune is a Danish municipality in the northeast of the island of Zealand . It was created on January 1, 2007 in the course of local government reform by merging the previous municipalities of Fredensborg-Humlebæk and Karlebo in the Frederiksborg Office .
Fredensborg Municipality has a total population of 40,865 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of 112.10 km². It is part of the Hovedstaden region . The seat of the administration is in Kokkedal .

(a)Statistically, the suburb Espergærde , a small part of which protrudes from Helsingør municipality into Humlebæk Sogn and in which 66 inhabitants lived in Fredensborg municipality on January 1, 2008, has been part of the Helsingør settlement area since January 1, 2009 .
(b)The village of Nivå Havn , in which 309 inhabitants lived on January 1, 2009, has been part of the Humlebæk settlement area since January 1, 2010 .
(c)The city of Hørsholm extends over the Hørsholm municipality of the same name , the Rudersdal municipality and the Karlebo Sogn .
