Ballerup Kommune [ ˈbalʔəʀob ] is a Danish municipality in the Hovedstaden region . 48,602 inhabitants live there on an area of 34.00 km² (as of January 1, 2020).
The administrative headquarters are in the town of Ballerup , which is part of the Hovedstadsområdet settlement area . Other important places are Måløv and Skovlunde .
In the municipality are the protected round hills Lemmehøj and Studerhøj.

economy
The medical technology company Ambu , the pharmaceutical company LEO Pharma and the confectionery manufacturer Toms Gruppen are based in Ballerup .
Sports
The "Ballerup Idrætsby Sports Center" with the Ballerup Super Arena, which opened in 2001, is located in the district of Skovlunde . The arena is home to Denmark's only cycling track ; it was designed by the Münster architect Ralph Schürmann . The "Super Arena" hosted two UCI track world championships , in 2002 and 2010 , as well as European championships (2006) and world cup races . Six-day races are also held there every year. In 2003 the roof (of the empty hall) collapsed due to large amounts of snow; it reopened in 2005.
