The Ambu A / S is a Danish medical undertakings incinerating or inter alia, in the United States, Scandinavia, Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain and Germany in Bad Nauheim has sales offices.

Ambus's historic milestone was the invention of the resuscitator bag in 1954 by the Danish anesthetist Henning Ruben and the German engineer Holger Hesse. In addition to products for ventilation (face masks, laryngeal masks, PEEP valves, LifeKey), Ambu also develops products for the cardiology sector . Ambu has a selection of EKG electrodes that were also used on the Russian MIR space station . Ambu is also known for its training and exercise phantoms for basic resuscitation ( cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS)) and advanced life support (ALS). Other business areas are neurology (needle and surface electrodes for electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG) etc.) and immobilization ( cervical supports ).

The company's Class B shares are listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange in the Small Cap Index (since June 1, 2006, previously in the Mid Cap Index). Around 70% of the voting share capital, consisting of Class A shares with multiple voting rights, is in the hands of four descendants of the company's founders.

In the 2007/2008 financial year ending on September 30, 2008, 1,397 employees had a turnover of 784 million DKK , in the financial year 2004/2005 there were 1,280 employees and the turnover was 654 million DKK, corresponding to 87.68 million euros. 98% of sales are generated outside of Germany. Ventilation products contributed almost 40% to sales in the 2005/2006 financial year, cardiology products 37%, neurology products 9%, exercise phantoms and products for immobilization each 7%. Around 60% of the employees work at the production sites in Xiamen , China and Penang , Malaysia, 27% of the employees in Denmark. In Denmark, Ambu produces at the Ballerup and Ølstykke locations .
