Glostrup Kommune [ ˈg̊loːˀsd̥ʁob̥ ] is a municipality in the northeast of the Danish island of Sjælland and part of the closed settlement area Hovedstadsområdet .
Within the Hovedstaden region, the municipality is one of the smaller municipalities with an area of 13.30 km² and 23,128 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). Before 1970 it belonged to Harde Smørum Herred in København's office and became a separate municipality in the reduced København's office with the Danish administrative reform in 1970 . In 1974 Avedøre Sogn , which had previously belonged to Glostrup Municipality, was transferred to Hvidovre Municipality . During the municipal reform in 2007 , the Glostrup municipality was assigned to the Hovedstaden region .
