Avedøre Kirke

Avedøre Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in Hvidovre , a suburb of the Danish capital Copenhagen (Danish: København ).

Since the Middle Ages, the municipality belonged to Glostrup Sogn in Harde Smørum Herred in what was then København's office . In 1892 the area was added to the Brøndbyøster Sogn , from which it was split off as its own Sogn in 1965. With the dissolution of the Harden structure, it initially belonged to Glostrup Municipality , then from 1974 to Hvidovre Municipality in the reduced Københavns Office , which became part of the Hovedstaden region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

Of the 53,505 inhabitants of Hvidovre, 16,120 live in the parish of Avedøre (as of January 1, 2020).

The church “Avedøre Kirke” is located in the parish.

Neighboring communities are in the east Strandmark Sogn and Risbjerg Sogn and in the northeast Hvidovre Sogn , furthermore in the neighboring Brøndby municipality in the north Brøndbyøster Sogn , in the northwest Brøndbyvester Sogn and in the west Brøndby Strand Sogn .

The Avedøre airfield ( 55 ° 37 ′ 10 ″  N , 12 ° 26 ′ 35 ″  E ) is located on the municipality's territory. It is a special feature that runs right next to the E20 motorway, but is better known for the fact that the and the runway is not straight, but follows the curve of the motorway.
