Caleb James Stanko (born July 26, 1993 in Holly , Michigan ) is an American football player . The defensive midfielder and one-time senior international is under contract in Major League Soccer with FC Cincinnati .
Career
societies
In 2011 Stanko moved from the Vardar Soccer Club to the youth team at SC Freiburg . There he moved up for the 2012/13 season to the second team that plays in the Regionalliga Südwest . He has also been part of the first team's squad since the 2013/14 season . On November 22, 2015, he came on for the first time in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 4-1 home win against SC Paderborn 07 , after being substituted for Amir Abrashi in the 79th minute . He made his first appearance in the starting line-up in the 2-1 away defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg on December 13, 2015. In total, he was used five times during the season and made promotion to the Bundesliga with the team as second division champions .
For the 2016/17 season , Stanko went on loan for a year to the Liechtenstein club FC Vaduz , with whom he competed in the Swiss Super League .
On January 23, 2019 returned Stanko back to the US and joined the new MLS - Franchise FC Cincinnati on.
National team
In February 2013, Stanko took part with the US U-20 national team in the CONCACAF U-20 championship in Mexico . He came to three missions and finished with the team after a final defeat against the hosts in second place. In June 2013 , Stanko played at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey and was used twice during the tournament. He failed with the team as bottom group in the preliminary round. In total, he played eight games for the U-20 selection.
On May 22, 2016, Stanko was nominated for the first time for the senior team of the United States and made his debut on September 6, 2016 in a 4-0 victory in the World Cup qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago .
