Haris Medunjanin (born March 8, 1985 in Sarajevo ) is a Bosnian - Dutch football player . The midfielder is also active for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national team .

Career

society

Medunjanin moved to the Netherlands with his parents at the age of seven and went through the youth department of AZ Alkmaar before making his professional debut in the 2004/05 season. He played a total of three games this season. In the following season he came to ten missions and was able to achieve three hits for the red-whites. However, the AZ officials decided in the summer of 2006 to loan him out to league competitor Sparta Rotterdam for a year , where he should get match practice. Medunjanin was given the number ten on his back in Rotterdam and developed into a regular player and top performer. He scored seven goals in 32 games and thus contributed to relegation. For the 2007/08 season he returned to AZ, but was only a substitute player and only played 90 minutes once and scored one goal. For other games he was not considered by coach Louis van Gaal .

The following season Medunjanin moved to Spain to Real Valladolid . Although he has often shone as a joker there so far, he did not make the breakthrough in the regular formation, which was also due to his behavior off the field. Again and again, even before important games, he was said to have had nocturnal excesses in discos, and he insulted a fan who showed him photos from those very nights as a "son of a bitch". On April 4, 2010 there was a scandal at the home game against Villarreal. So Medunjanin was whistled by his own fans with every touch of the ball, which led to indecent gestures towards the audience. The next day he apologized to the fans on a local radio station and tearfully asserted that as a Muslim he was not allowed to drink alcohol and that he had never been on a party tour before games. He is currently afraid of leaving the house and is examining legal action against the Spanish media landscape that has exposed him to this smear campaign.

In June 2010, after Real Valladolid was relegated, he moved to the Israeli first division club Maccabi Tel Aviv . The previous season he scored five goals for his club, but always as a substitute. He made his debut for Tel Aviv on July 15, 2010 in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League against FK Mogren . He also scored his first goal for his new club in that game.

In the last week of the 2012 summer transfer period, he moved to the Turkish Süper Lig for Gaziantepspor .

In the summer of 2014 he moved to the Primera División for promoted Deportivo La Coruña .

In 2016 he returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

National team

In 2006 Medunjanin was part of the squad of the U-21 national team of the Netherlands, which won the title at the U-21 European Football Championship . In the following year he was nominated by national coach Foppe de Haan for the U-21 European Football Championship 2007 , where the Elftal was able to defend its title. In total, he came to seven missions without a goal.

In October 2009 he was nominated by Miroslav Blazevic for the two play-off games of the Bosnian national team against Portugal. In the second leg on November 18, 2009 in Zenica , he completed his first international match. He scored his first international goal on November 17, 2010 in a friendly against Slovakia in Bratislava in a 3-2 win for Bosnia and Herzegovina .

Medunjanin was in Bosnia-Herzegovina's squad for the 2014 World Cup .
