Tom Peder Pettersson (born March 25, 1990 in Trollhättan ) is a Swedish football player . The defensive player has played his career so far in Sweden and Belgium , where he won the Swedish National Cup twice.
Career
Pettersson began playing football at Trollhättans FK . In 2007 he moved within the city to the then third division club FC Trollhättan , for whom he made his debut in Division 1 that same year . In the following year he contributed to promotion to the second-rate Superettan in 16 games this season , where he became a regular player. In the first year he saved himself with the team with two wins in the relegation games against Skövde AIK from relegation, the following year he occupied a direct relegation place with her.
After a year at the third highest level of play, Pettersson moved to the Allsvenskan after the end of the third division season in 2011 , when he signed a three-year contract with the promoted Åtvidabergs FF in November of that year. There, too, he was a regular player for long stretches and played his way into the Swedish U-21 national team . In the summer of 2013, he left the club on loan to Belgium, and Oud-Heverlee Löwen also agreed a purchase option. In the 2013/14 season he finished penultimate with the team, with two goals in the relegation against RAEC Mons , he led the team into the relegation round. There she missed relegation, Royal Excel Mouscron rose.
Then Pettersson returned to Sweden, with Åtvidabergs FF he finished eighth in the table. Shortly before the end of the season it was announced that he would turn his back on his previous club after his contract expired - at the end of October 2014, league rival IFK Göteborg announced his and Mikael Boman's commitment. Under coach Jörgen Lennartsson he was often used in the following two seasons, but played most of the games as a substitute. In May 2015, too, he only played for Jakob Ankersen from the 82nd minute of play in the final of the national cup against Örebro SK in order to ultimately bring the 2-1 lead over time.
Therefore, Pettersson ended his engagement with the Gothenburg club after two seasons and joined league rivals Östersunds FK , where he signed a three-year contract. Under coach Graham Potter he was an immediate regular player. With the team he was also in the cup final in 2017, with a 4-1 win over IFK Norrköping after goals from Samuel Mensiro , Hosam Aiesh , Alhaji Gero and Saman Ghoddos in a goal against Linus Wahlqvist , he won the title a second time.
