Rolf Linus Wahlqvist (born November 11, 1996 in Norrköping ) is a Swedish national football player . He has been under contract with Dynamo Dresden since summer 2018 .
Career
societies
Wahlqvist moved in 2009 from his parent club Eneby BK to the youth department of IFK Norrköping . There he went through the youth teams from U-19 to U-21. In the 2013 season he was in the first team squad, but has not yet played. He made his debut on the 2nd matchday of the 2014 season in a 2-0 win against Helsingborgs IF , when he came on for Nikola Tkalčić two minutes before the end of the game . In the same season he signed his first professional contract with Norrköping. He scored his first goal for Norrköping on matchday 14 of the 2015 season in a 3-1 win against Malmö FF . This season he was Swedish champion with IFK Norrköping. By 2018 he had played over 140 competitive games for the club.
During the summer break of 2018, he joined Dynamo Dresden . His contract runs until 2022. At Dresden Wahlqvist soon established himself as a regular player on the right wing, but was also used as a temporary player in central defense. In his first season he made 29 league games.
Wahlqvist mainly plays as a right defender, but is also used in central defense or on the left.
National team
Wahlqvist went through the Swedish national U-teams from the U-17 to the U-21. With the Swedish U-17 he took part in the 2013 European Championships , in which Sweden failed in the semi-finals to Russia . In the first two group matches against Switzerland and Austria , he led his selection onto the pitch as captain. He also took part in the U-17 World Cup in the same year. Wahlqvist played all of the games for Sweden, who lost 3-0 to Nigeria in the semi-finals , but beat Argentina 4-1 for third place .
After playing for the Swedish U-19s and U-21s , Wahlqvist made his debut on January 6, 2016 in a 1-1 draw in the friendly against Estonia for the Swedish national football team , when he came on for Emil Bergström in the 83rd minute .
