Patrick Wiegers (born April 19, 1990 in Deggendorf ) is a German soccer goalkeeper who is under contract with the second division team Dynamo Dresden .

Career

Youth teams

Patrick Wiegers played for his hometown club SV Grün-Weiß Deggendorf and its successor SpVgg Grün-Weiß Deggendorf from 1996 , interrupted by an interlude at SpVgg Plattling . As a 17-year-old, he guarded the first team's goal several times for the then Deggendorf regional division. His talent brought him into the Bayern selection, and so in 2008 SSV Jahn Regensburg signed the junior goalkeeper for his U-19 team in the A-Youth Bundesliga South / Southwest.

SSV Jahn Regensburg

From the 2009/10 season he was promoted to number two of the professional team in the third division . When Rouven Sattelmaier was injured on April 3, 2010 , Wiegers played the game to the end and replaced him in the next game. The following year, Michael Hofmann, a new experienced number one, was signed and the young Deggendorfer remained a replacement. After a red card or an injury to Hofmann, he was used three times in the 2011/12 season . At the end of the season Regensburg reached 3rd place in the league and then secured promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in relegation . There Wiegers came to twelve missions in the 2012/13 season , but rose again immediately with SSV Jahn.

In the third division 2013/14 season he was in goal for SSV Jahn in the first 13 games before the Austrian Bernhard Hendl was preferred. Wiegers played his last game for Jahn Regensburg at the season finale on May 10, 2014 in a 0-0 draw against VfL Osnabrück .

Dynamo Dresden

After the summer break he was briefly without a club before signing a one-year contract with third division club Dynamo Dresden in early September 2014 . In Dresden he will replace the injured substitute keeper Markus Scholz . On December 13, 2014 Wiegers came on for the first time after an injury to goalkeeper Benjamin Kirsten , whereupon he ran up as a goalkeeper in the following games.

In March 2015 he extended his expiring contract for another two years. On the 34th matchday he received the yellow-red card, had to leave the field and watched the four remaining games of the season from the bench.

With the start of the 2015/16 season Wiegers was still the second goalkeeper behind Janis Blaswich . In August 2015, the goalkeeper sustained an injury. In the 2016/17 season , in which Dynamo played in the 2nd Bundesliga, Wiegers was mostly subordinate to Marvin Schwänke , who was loaned out at the beginning of the season . Nevertheless, in May 2017 he extended his contract with Dynamo Dresden for another three years until 2020.
