The Spielvereinigung Plattling is a football club in the small town of Plattling in Lower Bavaria .

history

The club, founded in 1919, played in the then third -rate Bayern League against teams such as TSV 1860 Munich , SpVgg Fürth and SSV Jahn Regensburg in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s . In the DFB Cup main round, Plattling met in the 1980s and 1990s a. a. to clubs like Borussia Mönchengladbach , Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Carl Zeiss Jena , 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Fortuna Düsseldorf .

In the mid-1990s, the club - meanwhile financially heavily indebted - rose from the Bayern League to the District League three times within three seasons . The sponsors got out and the bankruptcy was averted only with the help of the sale of the sports facility. With combined forces and the support of the city and foreign players, the game operations in the district league could be maintained. Since then Plattling played long in the Bavarian District League until after 2002 until 2011 the second promotion to the Bezirksoberliga Lower Bavaria succeeded. In the 2011/12 season, the club managed to march straight through - the club played for the first time in 17 years in the Bavarian regional soccer league , but was relegated again after just one season, which resulted in renewed bloodletting and rebuilding.

The club currently consists of a men's team and some youth teams, some of which can only be kept in play due to a syndicate. The first team plays in the district league Niederbayern Ost in the 2017/18 season, the second team was disbanded during the 2015/2016 season.
