The Rennbahnstadion is a sports stadium on Josef-Froschauer-Straße in the center of the city of Plattling , Lower Bavaria , in the immediate vicinity of the Plattling city center. Since the sale by SpVgg Plattling, the owner has been the city of Plattling, the main user has been the football club SpVgg Plattling since the facility was founded.
The sports facility is the largest sports facility in the city and, in addition to the stadium, has two other grass pitches that are equipped with floodlights. The sports facility gained national fame through numerous appearances by the local SpVgg Plattling in the main round of the DFB Cup , with Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1985, Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1993 Borussia Mönchengladbach as guests. In the league game of the then third-class Bayernliga , TSV Munich 1860 , SSV Jahn Regensburg and FC Augsburg regularly made guest appearances in the Rennbahnstadion Plattling. At peak times, more than 6,500 spectators follow the games at the Plattling racecourse.
The facility is located in the middle of the Plattlinger Sandrennbahn, on which the city of Plattling's Grand Prix has been held annually for decades. For the most part, the stadium itself offers standing room only, with three or four rows around the soccer field for a maximum of 6,500 spectators.
After the sporting crash of SpVgg Plattling, the facility was renovated by the city in recent years.
