The Royal Albert-Elisabeth Club Mons , better known as RAEC Mons , was a Belgian football club from Mons in Hainaut with the nickname "Les Dragons d'Albert" ( German  The Dragons Alberts ). It was named in 1910 after the then royal couple Albert I and Elisabeth . It was dissolved in 2015.

history

The club was formed in 1909 from a merger of Club Amateur Sportif and Stade Montois , played under class for years and made it to the Belgian Division 2 , the second highest division , in 2000 . Two years later, the first division was made , from which the club, however, had to relegate in 2005. However, as the second division champion, they immediately rose again and the team played first-class again from 2006 to 2009. In the 2008/09 season , as bottom of the table, was relegated to the second division . In the seasons 2009/10 and 2010/11 ( EXQI League ) the club finished the season in third place in the table. In 2011, thanks to the success in the Tour Final Division 2, promotion to the first division was achieved.

In the Belgian Football Cup 2011/2012, the RAEC Mons was only subject to the KV Kortrijk in the semifinals. The first leg in Mons was lost 2-1 and the second leg, a week later, ended in a draw 2-2, which meant Mons were eliminated.

After losing to Ghent on February 25, 2012, coach Dennis van Wijk declared that he would not renew his contract for the coming season, whereupon the club dismissed van Wijk with immediate effect the following day. On Tuesday, February 28, 2012, RAEC signed Mons Enzo Scifo as the new coach, who signed a contract until June 30, 2013. He was replaced on September 23, 2013 by Geert Broeckaert as interim trainer. From September 27, 2013 the Macedonian Čedomir Janevski was the new coach. Didier Beugnies will replace him in the 2014/2015 season .

On February 16, 2015, the association announced bankruptcy and was dissolved.
