Bella Bayliss (* 1. November 1977 in Norwich as Bella Comerford ) is a former Scottish duathlete and triathlete . She is world champion on the long distance triathlon (2006), multiple Ironman winner and is included in the best list of British triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Bella Comerford started as a teenager in the tetrathlon (modern pentathlon: swimming, running, shooting, riding), switched from horse to bike for the first time at the age of 17 and started her first triathlon.

She has been a professional athlete since 2000 and started in 2002 for Scotland in the triathlon at the Commonwealth Games in Salford - together with Stephanie Forrester and Catriona Morrison ; she finished 14th.

Triathlon world champion long distance 2006

In November 2006 Comerford became triathlon world champion on the long distance in Australia. Since November 2008 she has been married to the British triathlete Stephen Bayliss (* 1979).

The multiple Ironman winner started as a professional athlete for four years in TeamTBB until 2010, she was trained by Brett Sutton and mainly started in competitions over the long distance.

In January 2011, Belly Bayliss announced that she was expecting her first child in the summer and would take a break from competition. In May 2012 she celebrated her comeback with a second place at the Ironman in Lanzarote and in September 2013 she won the long distance Challenge Henley-on-Thames .

The then 34-year-old declared her professional career over in September 2013 and then started as an amateur in competitions over the short or middle distance.

Bella Bayliss lives with her family in Leysin , Switzerland.
