Rachel Joyce (born June 16, 1978 in Mexico City ) is a former British triathlete . She is world champion (2011) and European champion (2012) on the long distance, multiple Ironman winner (2011, 2013, 2017) and was twice runner-up at the Ironman World Championships (2013, 2015). Joyce is on the Ironman distance leaderboard for British women triathletes .

Career

Rachel Joyce was a swimmer in her youth and in 2005 she switched to triathlon. In 2006, 28-year-old Rachel Joyce won her age group at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Florida (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running). In May 2011 she clinched her first victory in the Ironman distance on Lanzarote (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running). Rachel Joyce was a member of the Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team until the end of 2011 .

European champion triathlon long distance 2012

In July 2012, she became the European long-distance triathlon champion in Roth. At Ironman Hawaii, she finished second in the Ironman World Championship in October 2013. In 2014 she was able to qualify again for a starting place in Hawaii in October and took third place.

In October 2015 she finished second at the Ironman Hawaii for the second time.

Comeback after maternity leave in 2017

She announced a break for 2016 in March as she is expecting her child in September. She lives in London with her husband and son and started structured training again in 2017. In June 2017 she won the Ironman Boulder with a new course record. Since 2017 she no longer appears in international competitions.

Rachel Joyce has been Co-President of the Professional Triathletes Organization since 2019 .
