Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team

The Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team was a triathlon team with international participation. The team was led by German triathlete Faris Al-Sultan , the 2005 Ironman world champion.

The team was founded by the three triathletes Faris Al-Sultan, Swen Sundberg and Werner Leitner in spring 2009.
Since then, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority has supported the team. The connection to the wealthiest emirate in the United Arab Emirates came from Faris Al-Sultan, who has been training in Abu Dhabi in the winter months since the 2000s and has a residence in Al Ain .

The triathlon team saw itself as a multisport team with the two main focuses Ironman triathlon (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and Olympic triathlon (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) .

The most important races for the team were the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon , founded in 2010 , the Ironman Hawaii every year in October and the triathlon competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Faris Al-Sultan was informed of the dissolution of the team by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority on January 21, 2013 (his 35th birthday).

Ina Reinders was a member of the team until mid-2010 and supported the Abu Dhabi triathlon team from the end of her professional career in August 2010 as a supervisor until the team was dissolved.
