Martin Lébl (born April 12, 1980 in Prague ) is a Czech volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Indoor volleyball

Lébl began his career in 1993 in the youth team of Olympia Prague . After he had played in the 1995/96 season in Odolena Voda , he moved to VK Ústí nad Labem and was there in his first season Czech champions. The cup victory followed a year later. Then he went to Belgium to Noliko Maaseik . In 1999 he was appointed to the Czech national team for the first time . With Maaseik he won the double in 2001 and 2002. With the national team, he just missed the bronze medal at the 2001 European Championships in his own country, but was the best attacker in the individual standings.

After these successes, the Italian club Perugia Volley signed him . In the summer of 2003 he was also honored as the best attacker in the world league . In 2007 Lébl came to Lube Macerata and won the Italian Cup twice in a row. In the 2008/09 season Macerata reached fourth place in the Champions League and Lébl received an award as the best attacker. In 2010 he finally switched to M. Roma Volley , where he ended his indoor career in 2012.

beach volleyball

Lébl played his first FIVB tournaments with Michal Palinek in 1999 and 2000 . The duo achieved a ninth place in Toronto and a fourth place in Marseille . At the 1999 World Cup , however, they did not go beyond 41st place in the same place. The 2000 European Championship was more successful , with the Czechs only failing shortly before the semi-finals against the Swiss brothers Martin and Paul Laciga and the Russians Karassew / Saifulin . Against the Laciga brothers, Lébl / Palinek lost the first game in the Sydney Olympic tournament , which ended for them in the second losing round against the Spaniards Bosma / Díez .

In 2007 Lébl returned to the international beach volleyball tournaments at the side of Michal Biza . At the World Championships in Gstaad , the duo was eliminated from the group as bottom of the group after the preliminary round despite an opening win against the later finalists Barsuk / Kolodinski from Russia. In 2010 Lébl played at the Grand Slam in Rome with Přemysl Kubala and at the Prague Open with Jaroslav Pavlas before forming a new duo with the native American Michael Placek .
