Dmitri Alexandrowitsch Karassew ( Russian Дмитрий Александрович Карасев , English transcription : Dmitry Karasev , born March 1, 1970 in Krasnogorsk ) is a former Russian beach volleyball player .

Career

After Karassew had completed his first tournaments with Ruschan Dajanow in 1995/96 , he played at the 1997 World Cup with Maxim Pospelow and reached 17th place. After an interlude with Oleg Kisselew , he performed with Mikhail Kuschnerjow in 1998 and came in ninth at the domestic open tournament in Moscow . In 1999 he and his new partner Sergei Saifulin did not get past 25th place at the World Cup in Marseille . At the subsequent European Championship in Palma, however , the duo narrowly missed the semi-finals in fifth. Karassew / Saifulin achieved this goal a year later in Getxo , where they lost the game for third place against the Norwegians Høidalen / Kjemperud .

Against the same opponent, Karassew and Pavel Saizew lost in the round of 16 of the 2001 World Cup in Klagenfurt . The next European Championship in Jesolo ended early for him at the side of his former partner Kisselew after two defeats. At the European Championships in 2002 Karassew / Saizew failed again at Høidalen / Kjemperud. In 2003 Karassew was absent from the major tournaments. In the next two years he played with various partners and retired from the 2004 European Championships with Anton Kulikowski after the preliminary round. The following tournament in Moscow was just as unsuccessful . In front of a crowd, Karassew lost on Kolodinski's side against the Ukrainians Babych / Nykolaew and the German duo Kjell Schneider . In 2006 he came back together with Saizew, but could no longer achieve a World or European Championship. The two Russians had their last appearance together at the Grand Slam in Moscow in 2009.
