Mykola Babytsch (English transcription : Mykola Babich; born October 16, 1980 in Mykolaiv ) is a Ukrainian beach volleyball player .

Career

Babych played his first international tournaments in 2000 and 2001 with Andrej Bukyn . In 2002 he formed a new duo with Dmytro Chudolej , which reached the final of the Challenger tournament in Kiev . At the European Championships in 2003, the Ukrainians were eliminated in third place in the preliminary round and finished in ninth place. From 2004 Babych played with Oleh Nykolaew and won in Kiev the following year. At the European Championships in Moscow , Babytsch / Nykolaew defeated the Russians Karassew / Kolodinski before they lost to the German duo Dieckmann / Reckermann and failed in the losing round. A year later they had to admit defeat to two local duos, including the new European champions, in The Hague . Their last joint European Championship appearance ended in 2007 in Valencia with a 1: 2 against Brink / Dieckmann .

Babytsch then competed with Serhej Mychailow and came in ninth in Klagenfurt for the first time in the top ten in a Grand Slam. However, the 2009 World Cup ended for the new duo as bottom group in the preliminary round. After the Grand Slam in Moscow in 2010, they parted ways and Babych got together with his current partner Oleksandr Ioisher . After a few top places in smaller tournaments, the Ukrainians reached the round of 16 at the EM in Berlin , which they lost in the tiebreak against the Swiss Heuscher / Heyer . After the unsuccessful appearance without winning a set at the 2011 World Cup in Rome, they were eliminated from the European Championships in Kristiansand after the preliminary round.
