Markus Dieckmann (born January 7, 1976 in Bonn ) is a former German beach volleyball player, active trainer and businessman.

Career

The 1.89 m tall Dieckmann has played beach volleyball since the early 1990s, initially with his twin brother Christoph Dieckmann , and from 2001 to 2006 with Jonas Reckermann . With Reckermann he was twice European champion and twice German champion . In 2006 Markus Dieckmann retired from active competitive sport due to an injury and then initially trained his brother and the women's team Rieke Brink-Abeler / Hella Jurich . From 2007 to 2009 he directed the Dieckmann Beach School in Niederkassel .

Since then he has been part of the coaching team of beach volleyball world champions and Olympic champions Julius Brink / Jonas Reckermann .

His main job is as managing director and marketing manager in a sporting goods company (direct ball sports).

Private

Markus Dieckmann is a son of the former Lord Mayor of Bonn Bärbel Dieckmann ( SPD ) and the former NRW Justice and Finance Minister Jochen Dieckmann (SPD). He has been married to the former beach volleyball player Maike Friedrichsen since 2004 and has two children.
