Beach volleyball European championship
The beach volleyball European championships are tournaments organized by the European volleyball association CEV to determine the European champions of women and men.
history
The first men's tournament took place in 1993. A year later, the women also determined their first title holders. The tournaments took place in different locations in 1994. They have been held together since 1995. For women and men, Germany has so far been the most successful nation with seven and five wins respectively. Switzerland has so far won gold once, silver twice and bronze once. The last time Tanja Goricanec and Tanja Hüberli were in the final in 2014 . In 2013 the Austrians Doris and Stefanie Schwaiger won the European Championships in their own country. In the men's category, the Dutch Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil became European champions three times in a row. Switzerland won a total of thirteen medals, including three victories in a row for the brothers Martin and Paul Laciga . The Germans Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann won the title twice in a row in 2011 and 2012. In 2014 there was the first title for Italy. Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst won the sixth gold medal for Germany in the women's competition in 2015; for Ludwig personally it was already the third European Championship victory. Samoilovs / Šmēdiņš won the first gold medal for Latvia. In 2016 Ludwig / Walkenhorst successfully defended their title. Karla Borger and Britta Büthe won their first EM medal with bronze. In 2017 there were further medals for Germany with the title for Glenzke / Großner and bronze for Laboureur / Sude . In 2018 and 2019, the German teams missed out for the first time since 1999.
