Merita Helena Sofia Berntsen (born February 24, 1969 in Bergen ) is a former Norwegian volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Berntsen played 65 times in the hall for the Norwegian national team . In beach volleyball she reached the final of the European Championship in Saint-Quay-Portrieux with Ragni Hestad in 1995 , which was won by the Germans Beate Paetow and Cordula Borger . In the following year, Berntsen / Hestad achieved several top ten placements in the world series . At the Olympic tournament in Atlanta they lost to the Americans Fontana / Hanley and were eliminated in the losers' round against Beate Bühler and Danja Müsch .

Private

Berntsen is married to volleyball player and coach Kåre Mol . The two have five children who are also active in volleyball and beach volleyball. The second oldest son, Anders Mol, is the most successful .
