Danja Müsch (born April 14, 1971 in Kassel ) is a former German volleyball and beach volleyball player . She was European and German champion and took part in the Olympic Games three times . She is currently working in marketing for the Japanese sporting goods manufacturer ASICS.
Athletic career
Müsch started playing volleyball indoors at SSC Vellmar in 1984 . After a stopover at TV Creglingen , she played for USC Münster from 1992 , with which she won the CEV Cup in 1994 . For the national team , she completed 45 internationals. At the side of Beate Bühler , Müsch became European champion in her first beach season in 1994. In 1995 she won the German championship in Timmendorfer Strand for the first time . In the following year it was only enough to take third place nationally, but there were some successes internationally. The duo Bühler / Müsch reached the final of the European Championships , made it to the finals of the World Tour three times (Italy, Indonesia and Belgium) and took seventh place at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . After that, Müsch changed her partner. With Maike Friedrichsen she won the German championship and a second place at the World Tour tournament in Japan in the first season . After a third place in 1998, the duo repeated their national success in 1999. In addition, Müsch was named beach volleyball player of the year from 1997 to 1999 . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she reached ninth place. In 2001 she celebrated her last triumph as German champion with Maike Friedrichsen. Then she formed a duo with Susanne Lahme and reached the final of the national championship in 2002 and third place in 2003. At the 2003 World Tour she reached the final in Lianyungang . In 2004 she did the same in Mallorca and saw her third Olympic tournament in Athens , which she finished in ninth place. She was also voted beach volleyball player of the year for the fourth time . After her fifth title in the German championship , she ended her career as a player.

Between 2007 and 2010, Müsch worked as a reporter for the sports broadcaster sportdigital.tv , which between the 2007/08 and 2009/10 seasons broadcasted volleyball Bundesliga games in addition to handball and basketball .
Private
Danja Muesch lives with her family in the Rhineland.
