Christian Sandlie Sørum (born December 3, 1995 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian volleyball and beach volleyball player . With his partner Anders Mol , he became European champion four times in a row and Olympic champion in 2021.

Career Beach

Sørum has been playing beach volleyball at national and international tournaments with various partners (including his brother Aleksander) since 2011. With Runar Sannarnes he was U22 European champion in Fethiye in 2014 . With Morten Kvamsdal he had his first top ten placement on the FIVB World Tour in Fortaleza in 2016 and was ninth at the European Championships in Biel . Since the end of July 2016, Sørum has been playing with Anders Mol , with whom he finished fifth at the FIVB Major in Klagenfurt and won the U22 European Championship in Thessaloniki . In 2017 Mol / Sørum finished ninth at the FIVB 5-star tournament in Gstaad , won the CEV Masters in Ljubljana and finished fifth at the European Championships in Jūrmala . In 2018 they started again with a fifth place at the 4-star tournament in The Hague . Many other top ten placings followed, including fifth place in Xiamen , second place in Itapema , fifth place in Espinho and victory in Gstaad. In July Mol / Sørum became European champions in the Netherlands. Then they also won the 5-star tournament in Vienna and climbed to number one in the world rankings after 19 victories in a row. Mol / Sørum also emerged victorious at the World Tour Final in Hamburg .

The 2018/19 World Tour season was dominated by Mol / Sørum. They won the 4-star tournaments in Las Vegas, Itapema, Jinjiang, Ostrava and came second in Warsaw. At the world championship in Hamburg they were eliminated in the semifinals against the German team Thole / Wickler and finished in third place. The following tournaments in Gstaad, Tokyo and Vienna could be won again. Mol / Sørum defended their title at the European Championships in Moscow .

In 2020, Mol / Sørum in Jūrmala became European champions for the third time in a row . On the World Tour 2021 they won the two consecutive tournaments in Cancun in April . At the Olympic beach volleyball tournament in Tokyo they won the gold medal with a final victory over the Russian world champions Vyacheslav Krassilnikow and Oleg Stojanowski . At the European Championships in Vienna, Mol / Sørum defended their title again.

Career hall

Sørum also played indoor volleyball in the Norwegian youth / junior national team from 2012 to 2014. In the 2013/14 season, the outside attacker also played with Førde VBK in the European Challenge Cup .
