Julius Thole (born May 17, 1997 in Hamburg ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Sporting successes in Halle

Thole played indoor volleyball in his hometown at Eimsbütteler TV and at VCO Hamburg . In 2013/14 he had a second game right for the second division SVG Lüneburg , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga. In 2014/15 the diagonal and outside attacker played for the second division team KMTV Eagles Kiel . Thole was also active in the junior national team.

Sporting successes Beach

Thole has also been active in beach volleyball since 2010. With his Freiburg partner Sven Winter , he became German U19 champions in Kiel in 2014 and U18 European champions in Kristiansand, Norway .

In 2015 Thole / Winter were able to defend the German U19 championship title. At the side of Felix Göbert , Thole achieved ninth place at the U19 World Cup in Porto in 2014 . In 2015 Thole played with Max-Jonas Karpa on the Smart Beach Tour and other national tournaments. At the German championship in Timmendorfer Strand , Karpa / Thole achieved seventh place. With Eric Stadie , Thole finished sixth at the 2015 U20 European Championship in Paralimni, Cyprus and ninth place at the 2016 U22 European Championship in Thessaloniki, Greece . At the side of Sven Winter, Thole finished fifth at the U20 European Championship 2016 in Antalya, Turkey . Thole's standard partner has been Lorenz Schümann since 2016 , with whom he started nationally and internationally.

Schümann / Thole finished ninth in the German championship in 2016 and won the CEV satellite tournament in Barcelona .

At the FIVB 3-star tournament 2017 in Kisch , Iran , they reached the semi-finals after defeating Olympians Böckermann / Flüggen and came fourth. With Lukas Pfretzschner , Thole reached ninth place at the U21 World Cup in Nanjing . At the European Championships in Jūrmala , Schümann / Thole reached the first main round as second in the group, in which they prevailed against the Slovenians Zemljak / Pokeršnik in three sets. In the round of 16 they lost against the Italians Ranghieri / Carambula and finished ninth in the end. Schümann / Thole finished fourth in the German championship .

Thole has been playing with Clemens Wickler since 2018 . Thole / Wickler received the status of "German national team" from the DVV and won the CEV satellite tournament in Gothenburg . On the FIVB World Tour , a fifth place in Ostrava and a third place in Espinho were their best results. Thole / Wickler took part in the World Tour season finale in Hamburg with a wildcard and achieved fourth place. The two won the title at the German championship at Timmendorfer Strand .

In 2019 Thole / Wickler started with second place at the 4-star tournament in The Hague . At the 4-star tournaments in Doha and Xiamen , they came in ninth in March / April. As in the previous year, they finished fifth in Ostrava in June. At the 2019 World Cup in Hamburg they reached the final, in which they were defeated by the Russians Stojanowski / Krassilnikow . While they lost to the eventual winners Mol / Sørum at the EM 2019 in Moscow , they made it back onto the podium in the subsequent 4-star tournament in the subsequent 4-star tournament with third place. At the end of the season there was a fifth place for Thole / Wickler in the German championship and a second place in the World Tour final in Rome .
