The Kieler MTV ( Kieler Männerturnverein or KMTV ) is a sports club in Kiel . With (as of January 1, 2018) 7,127 members, it is the largest sports club in Schleswig-Holstein . The Kieler MTV was founded in 1844 by Peter Wilhelm Forchhammer and today offers numerous sports. There has been a significant increase in membership in recent years, particularly in fitness training and football . From 2012 to 2018 there was a volleyball men's team in the second division and in the third division under the name “KMTV Eagles” .

Today's football department of MTV in Kiel was founded in February 2003 after the first youth teams (E / F youth) had started compulsory games under the direction of the general ball sports department in the 1999/2000 season. Since the department was founded, the number of teams participating in active match operations has increased to 23 teams (2016/17 season):
- 14 youth teams
- 4 girls teams
- 3 men's teams
- 2 women's teams
In addition, since the establishment of the department, children of the G-youth and minis have been training at the Kiel MTV who are not registered for competitive games. The first women's team has played in the Schleswig-Holstein League since 2012/13 after three consecutive promotions. In the 2014/15 season, the 2nd women's team rose to the Association League, the 2nd men's team as runner-up in the district class B and the 1st men's team as runner-up in the Kiel district league.
As early as the 1920s, the Kiel MTV had a soccer team that took part in the German gymnastics association . In 1925, the Kiel team qualified for the first ever German soccer championship and moved into the final with a 2-0 win at Harburger TB 1865 . There the team met MTV Fürth and clearly lost 5-0.
Handball
In the handball division of the KMTV there are two men's teams and one women's team. The 1st men play in the Landesliga Nord and the 2nd men in regional class 1. The women's team plays in the regional class.
do gymnastics
The following gymnasts from the club competed at the North German Gymnastics Championships in 1934: Karl Streicher , Wiegand, Seibold, Lucas, Magnussen, Pechtl, Schulz.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary in 1934, the German warriors did gymnastics in the Kiel Northeast Sea Hall. The squad did gymnastics in the line-up: Sandrock (Immigrath); Pechtl (Kiel); Wedekind (forest); Huck (Hamburg); Rößler (Vogtland); Schäfer (Hamburg); Strings (keel); Steffens (Bremen); Bockenauer (Berlin) and Pfeiffer (Hamburg).
A number of gymnasts from the Kiel MTV also took part in the gymnastics competition in Hamburg from 1816 , gymnastics clubs in Hanover , Bremen and Kiel on January 20, 1935 in Bremen . Kiel did gymnastics in the line-up: Willi Pelzer, Friedrich Magnussen, Heinz Schultz, Richard Höper , Andreas Janssen, Kurt Pechtl and Karl Streicher .
Gymnast Daniel Weinert won the silver medal on parallel bars at the European Junior Championships in France in 2012 and was German champion on pommel horse in Stuttgart in 2014 .

History volleyball
The men from FT Adler Kiel / VT Kiel played in the 2nd Bundesliga for five years from 1995 to 2000 and for four years from 2008 to 2012 , before joining KMTV in 2012 as KMTV Eagles . In 2015, the Eagles were relegated to the third division . After the rise in 2018, the entire volleyball department (except for the hobby mixed teams) joined Kieler TV .
