The MTV Fürth a. V. 1892 (from 1979 to 1997 the club was called MTV Grundig Fürth ) is a purely popular sports club with currently around 1,100 members in the sports departments of aikido , fitness and weight training , soccer , handball , ju-jutsu , bowling , kickboxing and taekwondo , sambo and gymnastics . The sports club relies on the youth work. 63% of the members are younger than 20 years.

founding

The association was founded on April 10, 1892. The founding members at that time were G. Roth, K. Huebner, G. Hager, J. Hager and A. Hofmann.

Sports ground

The 24,000 m² sports area on Kapellenstrasse ("Schiessanger") consisted of a large sports hall (MTV Grundig sports hall), 2 soccer fields, 7 bowling alleys, large fitness studio (220 m²), dojo for martial arts, bistro and sauna, Conference room, club restaurant and adjoining room.

The MTV Grundig sports hall (built in 1966 by architect Robert Portzky), which was demolished in 2016, was used not only for sports competitions but also for commercial events. Famous politicians, u. a. Willy Brandt , Franz Josef Strauss and countless music groups such as Uriah Heep , Deep Purple , UFO , Golden Earring and many more were guests. The sports hall gave way to the new location of the Fürth professional fire department. The new urban Julius Hirsch sports hall on Fürth's Schießanger was built for this purpose. The maintenance of the MTV promised in 2000 cannot be kept by the municipality due to austerity constraints. So the new sports hall was built without bowling alleys and fitness studio. After problems with the roof construction, completion is expected in 2017.

The sports area itself has been owned by the city of Fürth since July 2000 and is located in the center of the city, between the Rednitz and Pegnitz rivers , exactly where the two rivers meet to form the Regnitz .

partnership

The MTV Fürth a. V. 1892 maintains an active club partnership with the French sports club ASPTT Limoges (87).
