Richard Höper

Richard Höper (born May 2, 1911 in Hanover ; † April 5, 1986 ) was a German gymnast . He did gymnastics for the Kiel men's gymnastics club from 1844 .

Life

Höper was the third Wehrmacht master in artistic gymnastics. In 1936 he took second place in the all- around competition behind Walter Behrens at the North German Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Flensburg . He became North German champion on parallel bars, in free practice and on the long horse.

On December 6, 1936, Höper was part of the Nordmark contingent in the first gau battle against the Lower Rhine. In the free exercise he was next to Walter Steffens best gymnast. Overall, he finished ninth in the individual ranking, with the Hamburger Anzeiger emphasizing that a lot can still be expected of him. The Nordmark team just lost against the Lower Rhine.

On March 12, 1939, Höper won in Munich-Gladbach with the Nordmark team against the strong Niederrhein selection, which had competed with the national gymnasts Heinz Sandrock and Georg Sich , among others . The Nordmark competed alongside Höper with the Kieler Lange and the Hamburgers Kribic, Smuda, Lahrs, Ulber and Jürgensen.

Höper temporarily coached the Norwegian national team. In 1950 he was employed by the city of Burgdorf as a sports advisor. He headed the sports department and looked after the city's youth groups. He then worked as a sports teacher in Burgdorf .

The Richard-Höper-Halle in Burgdorf was named after him.
