Adrian Ignacio Carambula Raurich (born March 16, 1988 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is an Italian beach volleyball player .

Career

Born and raised in Uruguay, Carambula first played football in his youth (with Luis Suárez , among others ) before he emigrated to Florida with his parents at the age of 14 . After a groin injury, he began playing beach volleyball there and has played with various partners on the AVP Tour and other US tournaments since 2007 . Carambula won four tournaments in the AVP Young Guns series, including alongside the Briton Steven Grotowski , with whom he formed a duo until 2012. In 2013 and 2014, Stafford Slick was his partner on the AVP tour.

Because of an Italian grandmother, Carambula is eligible to play for Italy and has competed on the FIVB World Tour with Alex Ranghieri since 2015 . In the Poreč Major , Carambula / Ranghieri took third place. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt they only lost in the final and thus won the silver award. At the end of 2015 they won the Antalya Open and at the beginning of 2016 the Doha Open on the World Tour , on which they were able to achieve several other top ten results. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Carambula / Ranghieri finished ninth as well as at the World Tour Final in Toronto . After some weaker results on the World Tour 2017 , a 17th place at the World Championships in Vienna and a fifth place at the European Championships in Jūrmala , the two separated.

Carambula played on the World Tour 2018 with Pasquale Gabriele without any major success . Enrico Rossi has been his partner since 2019 .
