Lorenz Schümann (born January 10, 1992 in Kiel ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career indoor volleyball

From 2004 onwards, Schümann played indoor volleyball with his home country FT Adler Kiel . With TSV Husum he rose to the Regionalliga Nord in 2009 and took part in the German U18 championships in Rottenburg . In 2010 the outside attacker switched to the volleyball team in Kiel , where he moved up to the second division team in 2011 after a season in the regional league team. In the 2012/13 season Schümann played for the regional division VCO Hamburg before moving to the third division 1. VC Norderstedt in 2013 . Schümann has been playing for third division club Eimsbütteler TV since 2018 .

Career beach volleyball

Schümann has also been active in beach volleyball since 2004. With his Kiel partner Maximilian Lübbe , he became Schleswig-Holstein national champion and vice-champion several times in 2008 and 2009 and also took part in several German championships. At the side of Dominik Stork , Schümann reached third place in 2010 at the German U20 Championships in Berlin and at the U19 World Championships in Porto and was German U19 runner-up in Kiel . Since 2011 Schümann / Stork have played on the Smart Beach Tour and other national tournaments. At the 2011 U20 European Championships in Tel Aviv they came third. In 2014 they reached ninth place at the U23 world championships in Mysłowice, Poland, fifth place at the student world championships in Porto and 13th place at the German championships in Timmendorfer Strand . In 2015, Valentin Begemann was his partner. Begemann / Schümann won the Smart Beach Cup in Jena and the Smart Super Cup in Kühlungsborn . They finished ninth in the German championship . In 2016 Schümann played with Armin Dollinger (victory Smart Beach Cup Dresden) and with Julius Thole (victory Smart Beach Cup Jena, place nine in the German championship and victory in the CEV Satellite Barcelona) and made his first appearances on the FIVB World Tour . At the FIVB 3-Star Tournament 2017 in Kisch , Iran , Schümann / Thole reached the semi-finals after defeating the Olympians Böckermann / Flüggen and finished fourth. With Alexander Walkenhorst , Schümann won the CEV Satellite tournament in Siófok, Hungary . At the European Championships in Jūrmala , Schümann / Thole reached the first main round as second in the group, in which they prevailed against the Slovenians Zemljak / Pokeršnik in three sets. In the round of 16 they lost against the Italians Ranghieri / Carambula and finished ninth. Schümann started with Markus Böckermann at the FIVB season finale in Hamburg because his partner Lars Flüggen was injured. In the end, they finished fifth here. Schümann / Thole finished fourth in the German championship . From October 2017 to June 2018 Schümann played together with Nils Ehlers . Ehlers / Schümann took fifth place at the FIVB 3-star tournament 2017 in Qinzhou, China, and second place at the 2018 2-star tournament in Jinjiang . After Ehlers formed a new team with Lars Flüggen in August 2018, Schümann ended his career.
