Career beach volleyball

Böckermann has been active in beach volleyball since 2005. First he competed in national tournaments with changing partners. In 2007 he played with his brother Dirk on the Smart Beach Tour . He made his first international appearance in August 2007 when he and Tom Götz finished second at the satellite tournament in Vaduz . In 2008 Böckermann / Götz took part in the Grand Slam in Berlin . They finished third in the German championship . Then Böckermann competed with Kay Matysik at the Mallorca Open of the FIVB World Tour and reached 17th place there. In 2009 he played with Florian Lüdike . In addition to appearing at national tournaments, Böckermann / Lüdike played at the Rome Open, where they were subject to the "Country Quota". In the German championship they came in ninth place.

In 2010 Böckermann formed a new duo with Mischa Urbatzka . On the national tour, Böckermann / Urbatzka won the tournaments in Münster and Sankt Peter-Ording . Internationally, they made it into the main field of the World Tour for the first time at the Grand Slam in Rome. This was followed by appearances at the Prague and Marseille Open and the Grand Slam in Gstaad . At the open tournaments in Kristiansand and Åland , Böckermann / Urbatzka finished 25th and 13th. Then they were only defeated in the German championship in the final against Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann . In 2011 they won three Supercups in Hamburg and Norderney and the tournament in Heidelberg on the Smart Beach Tour . Internationally, they started the season less successfully at the Open tournaments in Brasília and Prague. After the Grand Slam in Gstaad and the Québec Open, they came in ninth in the top ten for the first time in the Grand Slam in Stare Jabłonki . This time they finished ninth in the German championship.

At the beginning of the 2012 World Tour, Böckermann / Urbatzka dropped out three times early before they finished ninth in the Grand Slam in Berlin . On the German tour they won tournaments in Norderney, Heidelberg and St. Peter-Ording. At the German championship they had to admit defeat to the new German champions Jonathan Erdmann and Kay Matysik in the quarter-finals . In 2013 they finished fifth at the Grand Slam in Shanghai and again won the national tournament in Norderney. They reached the finals at the Masters tournament in Baden . In Stare Jabłonki they took part in the World Cup for the first time . They reached the knockout round as second in the group and finally had to admit defeat to defending champions Alison / Emanuel after three sets in the round of 16 . With that they finished the tournament in ninth place. They took the same place at the Grand Slam in Long Beach . Then they became German champions for the first time in Timmendorfer Strand with a final victory against Lars Flüggen and Alexander Walkenhorst . They finished the international season with a ninth place at the Grand Slam in Xiamen .

They also achieved this result on the 2014 World Tour at the Grand Slams in Shanghai, Moscow , Gstaad and Klagenfurt . At the European Championships in Quartu Sant'Elena , they lost the first group game against Erdmann / Matysik and were ultimately eliminated early in the group. At the German championship, the defending champions were also defeated by Erdmann / Matysik and then by the Dollinger / Wickler duo , so that they finished fifth.

Böckermann has played alongside Lars Flüggen since 2015 . Böckermann / Flüggen won the first tournament of the 2015 World Tour in Fuzhou . In the following tournaments they did not get past 17th place initially. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt they reached the knockout phase as second in the group and then lost to the Spanish duo Herrera / Gavira in the round of 16 . They then finished fifth at the Grand Slam in Long Beach. At the open tournament in Rio de Janeiro they were in the final. In the German championship they missed another medal in fourth. Internationally, after finishing second in Xiamen and fourth in Puerto Vallarta , they celebrated their second tournament victory at the Qatar Open.

At the World Tour 2016 they achieved further top ten results as fifth in the Kisch and Vitória Open and fourth in the Doha Open. In Antalya they played their next international final. At the EM in Biel / Bienne they came third in the group to the round of 16, which they lost to the Dutch Brouwer / Meeuwsen . They finished fifth in the Hamburg Major and thus secured qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where they were eliminated in the preliminary round after three defeats. At the German championship they prevailed in the final against Erdmann / Kaczmarek and won the title. For Böckermann it was the second national title after 2013. In July 2017, Böckermann / Flüggen won the 4-star tournament in Olsztyn . At the World Championships in Vienna they reached the lucky loser round as third party, in which they were eliminated against the Italians Ranghieri / Carambula . Flüggen pulled a meniscus tear at the tournament , which is why Böckermann competed with Yannick Harms at the European Championships in Jūrmala . With Lorenz Schümann , Böckermann took fifth place at the FIVB season finale in Hamburg . In July 2018, Böckermann ended his professional career as a beach volleyball player.
