Mischa Urbatzka (born March 29, 1983 in Elmshorn ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career indoor volleyball

Urbatzka learned to play volleyball in the hall in the youth of VG Elmshorn (VGE). After an interlude at FT Adler Kiel , he played for VGE as an outside attacker in the Regionalliga Nord until 2010. From 2010 to 2014 Urbatzka played for the second division SVG Lüneburg and was runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga North three times in a row.

Career beach volleyball

From 2002 to 2006 Urbatzka formed a beach volleyball team with Daniel Krug ( FT Adler Kiel ). In the junior division, the two won medals at both European and World Championships. Urbatzka played successfully with his partner Jonas Reckermann from 2007 to 2008. In addition to two finals in Kristiansand (NOR) and Aland (FIN), Reckermann / Urbatzka achieved several other top ten placements in tournaments of the FIVB world association. Since Reckermann / Urbatzka were the third-best German team in the qualification ranking after Julius Brink / Christoph Dieckmann and David Klemperer / Eric Koreng , they did not take part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, even though they were among the ten best teams in the world. In 2009 Mischa Urbatzka played together with Florian Huth from FT Adler Kiel. Markus Böckermann was his partner from 2010 to 2014 . Böckermann / Urbatzka started for FC St. Pauli and became German champions in 2013 . In 2015 Urbatzka only played at national tournaments with Lukas Manzeck . After a two-year break, Urbatzka formed a new duo with Sebastian Fuchs in 2018 . Fuchs / Urbatzka played on the national Techniker Beach Tour and finished ninth in the German championship .

School and job

In 2002 Urbatzka graduated from the Cooperative Comprehensive School in Elmshorn. From 2002 to summer 2003 he did his community service at the Kiel branch of the Olympic base in Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein . In June 2006 Urbatzka completed his apprenticeship as a sports and fitness clerk at the Landessportbund Schleswig-Holstein with the grade "good". Urbatzka has been the head of beach volleyball training and beach volleyball workshops in Hamburg since 2008.
