Christoph Dieckmann (born January 7, 1976 in Bonn , Germany ) is a former German beach volleyball player and active coach.

Career

Christoph Dieckmann began playing volleyball indoors in 1989 . In 1994 he switched to beach volleyball. He played together with his twin brother Markus Dieckmann until 2000 . The brothers became German runners-up in 1998 and 2000.

From 2002 to 2005 Christoph Dieckmann formed a duo with Andreas Scheuerpflug , which reached the final of the German championship in the first year. In the next two years they won the national title. In 2004 they also took third place at the World Tour tournament in Klagenfurt and ninth place at the European Championships in Timmendorfer Strand . They celebrated their greatest success as fifth at the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2005 it wasn't enough to defend the national title. There were two World Tour victories in Shanghai and Klagenfurt, fourth place at the European Championships in Moscow and 13th place at the World Championships in Berlin .

Then Dieckmann met Julius Brink . The duo, which was trained by Bernd Schlesinger, Andreas Künkler and Markus Dieckmann, won the German championship in their first year together, became European champions in The Hague and won the World Tour in Espinho and Vitória . In 2007 Brink / Dieckmann defended their national title. You finished ninth at the European Championships in Valencia and finished 17th at the World Championships in Gstaad . They also won two CEV tournaments. At the World Tour 2008 they were successful in Barcelona and took second place twice. As the best German team, they qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where they were eliminated as the bottom group after the preliminary round.

Nevertheless, Dieckmann defended his title as German beach volleyball player of the year . At the German championship, defending the title 2-1 to David Klemperer and Eric Koreng failed . At the end of the 2008 season, Brink / Dieckmann announced that they would go their separate ways in the future. Dieckmann's new playing partner for the 2009 season was to be Kay Matysik , who split up with Stefan Uhmann almost at the same time (also for personal reasons) .

In June 2009 Christoph Dieckmann ended his active career due to knee problems.

From autumn 2009 to October 2012 Dieckmann was the Greek national coach a. a. for the Greek women's national team Maria Tsiartsiani / Vasiliki Arvaniti . At the same time he was in charge of the German duo Katrin Holtwick / Ilka Semmler .

Since November 2012 Dieckmann has been one of the two national coaches for Swiss beach volleyball players.
