Stefan Uhmann (born April 28, 1986 in Perleberg ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career
Stefan Uhmann grew up in Sömmerda and started playing volleyball at Post SV Erfurt. He played his first beach tournaments in 2003 with Hendrik Matthießen from Kiel and was U18 European champion in Brno . In 2004 he became German A youth champion with Tilo Backhaus and with Tom Götz he reached fourth place at the Junior World Championships in Porto Santo . In 2005 he formed a permanent duo with Florian Huth . Uhmann / Huth finished third in the U23 European Championship in Mysłowice and seventh in the German championship . The next year they were only defeated in the final of the German championship against Julius Brink and Christoph Dieckmann . With Matthias Pompe , Stefan Uhmann won the silver medal at the U23 European Championship in St. Pölten in 2006 .
In 2007 Uhmann was again German runner-up with his new partner Kay Matysik . At the European Championship in Valencia they had to admit defeat to the two Swiss duos Laciga / Schnider and Heuscher / Heyer and finished in 13th place. At the next European Championship tournament in Hamburg they reached the final, but lost it in two sets against the Dutch Numbersdor / Schuil . They finished the German championship in 2008 in fifth place.
In 2009 Uhmann played first with Maarten Lammen and then with Stefan Windscheif . After a positive doping test at a tournament in Zinnowitz in July, he was banned for two years for the consumption of carboxy - THC according to the rules of the NADA code. Some experts criticized the decision because, in their opinion , the use of cannabis does not show any performance-enhancing effects. In 2012 Uhmann competed in national tournaments, first with Marvin Klass and later with Tom Götz.
Uhmann also played higher class indoor volleyball in parallel to the beach. a. 2004/05 at first division Moerser SC , 2005/06 in the 2nd Bundesliga at 1. Sonneberger VC and 2006/07 at first division SG Eltmann . From 2011 to 2012 he played for the Austrian first division club UVC Graz .
